The February meeting of Beadnell WI saw members being joined by friends from the Lindisfarne Group of WIs, for a fun evening.
Business was dispensed with in record time and the competition for something red judged.
Jenny Spark came first with a splendid dark red amaryllis full of magnificent blooms, Sue Dawson was second with a much-travelled toy lobster, while Lynne Angus came third with a favourite velvet scarf.
The table of entries provided a welcome splash of Valentine’s colour to the hall.
President Lynne informed us that the luncheon club’s venue for March has been changed to the Olde Ship Hotel in Seahouses.
Nancy Wardropper asked members if they were able to kindly donate some raffle prizes for the domino and bridge afternoons in March and April.
Starting with a choice of tasty soups, we were soon fortified enough to start on an entertaining quiz organised for us by Fraser Suffield.
Breaking mid-way for delicious desserts raised our blood-sugar levels sufficiently so that we could complete the final tasks.
With much hilarity and head-scratching we puzzled our way through. Honours for the evening were taken by the Hot Ladies from Beadnell, with Craster WI a close second, following a tie-break.
The caterers, dishwashers and, above all, Fraser were thanked for brightening up a dark winter’s evening.
