An Alnwick barmaid is continuing her fund-raising efforts for a charity which helps disadvantage children, as part of preparations for a major beauty pageant.
Hannah Mackay is a finalist in Miss North-East GB, where she will by vying to win the Miss Newcastle GB crown.
Other categories within the regional contest are Miss Sunderland GB, Miss Teesside GB and Miss Durham GB and the victor of each section will compete at Miss Great Britain 2015 in September, among other perks.
The chosen charity for this year’s pageant is Global’s Make Some Noise and Hannah and her fellow contestants are trying to raise cash for the cause.
The 18-year-old, who works at The Plough, has already collected more than £100, but she is determined to raise more. She said: “Make Some Noise is a great charity and I want to raise money and raise awareness.”
As part of her fund-raising efforts, a raffle is being held at Capella Hair Design, on Alnwick’s Narrowgate, for a hamper, which includes a salon voucher. Tickets are £1 a strip and the winner will be announced on July 30.
There is also a ‘guess how many sweets are in the jar’ at Grannies, on Narrowgate. Entry is £1 and the deadline is July 29. All money raised will go to the charity.
