Bamburgh WI, November meeting

Turning Japanese

Bamburgh WI president Christine Hutchinson welcomed everyone to our November meeting. Apologies were received from six members, and we quickly got through our business meeting.

Our activities this month include the quiz night at the Castle Inn, at 7.30pm, on November 30.

We have received an invitation from Seahouses/North Sunderland WI to a Murder Mystery Evening on January 5, and we will be having our belated Christmas lunch on January 20. After our Christmas workshop on December 8, hopefully we will have table decorations for our Christmas tea party the following day.

Member Jill McConnell-Wood then introduced her sister-in-law, Minky, who had kindly agreed to be our speaker.

She gave us a wonderful insight into her early life in Japan. She explained about the Japanese language, education system, the type of houses people lived in and the national dress. She answered questions as we were all interested in Minky’s life.

We love to see visitors and new members. We meet at 2pm on the second Wednesday in the month in Bamburgh Pavilion.
