Our president Christine Hutchinson welcomed everyone to the November meeting of Bamburgh WI.

Some of the things that were happening during November and December were discussed.

These included our lunch club at the Craster Arms at Beadnell on November 22, the village quiz night on November 28 in the Castle Inn, Christmas at Hexham Abbey on December 15 and carol singing at Heighley Gate Nursery and Garden Centre on December 20.

We also made arrangements for our Christmas party on December 14.

Instead of having a speaker this month, we had an Iced Flowers workshop.

Margaret Smith, from Belford, gave an excellent demonstration, showing us how to make not only flowers, but also various Christmas items.

She made it seem so easy and we all started off very confidently, but then some of us found it more difficult than others.

However, we were soon engrossed in various colours of icing, glitter, gold and silver balls, edible glue, rolling pins and cocktail sticks, and I’m sure some Christmas cakes will be looking especially good this year.

The worst part was clearing up afterwards.

The competition was won by Pat Newton; 2 Marilyn Martin; 3 Ann Thompson.
