This month’s meeting of Bamburgh WI was held on June 8, and in the absence of our president, Janet Wilkinson welcomed everyone to the meeting, including our three visitors.

Among the county events that are being held in the coming months are a photography workshop, a ‘fruity’ cookery demonstration, a Morpeth stroll, absolute beginners’ quilting, a poetry day and walking netball. We have also received an invitation from Belford WI to a domino drive and strawberry tea.

Our lunch club this month will be held on June 21 and will be at the Three Horse Shoes, Rennington.

Our speaker was Nick Lewis, who is house steward at Lindisfarne Castle. He gave us a detailed account of the history of the castle, wonderfully illustrated by slides. Nick also gave us an insight into the work and upkeep that is going on at the present time by the National Trust.

The next meeting will be on July 13, when Brenda Dinsdale will talk about the Life of a Jewish Woman. We meet in Bamburgh Pavilion at 2pm. New members are welcome.
