The county federation events were reported. These included a trip to Askham Hall on July 7, a gastronomic quiz at Wooler on May 25, and lunch at Doxford Hall on July 8, with Alan Beath as the speaker. We had also received an invitation from Howick WI to a quiz night on May 4. Members were asked to help at a catering event on July 16.

A plaque was to be placed in the new WI Notice Board to commemorate the Queen’s 90th birthday. All members were invited to meet at the new board, outside Julie’s Pantry, at noon on April 21, to make a toast.

Arrangements were made for our outing to Beamish on July 5. A coach had been booked and local WIs are to be asked to join us.

In the absence of a speaker, several members had brought along some of their treasured possessions. They explained how they had obtained them and gave an insight into their history.

Our next meeting will be on May 11, which will be our annual meeting.
