RESIDENTS of a north Northumberland village have raised over £8,000 for charity through a series of events over the last year.
Belford‘s Help for Heroes campaign came to a superb ending with a fancy dress Blitz Ball held in the ballroom of The Blue Bell Hotel with more than £1,300 being raised on the night.
This meant that the total raised for the charity by the village’s Old Guard group, who also sold £343.90 worth of wristbands, notebooks and medals, stands at £8,484.55 with £750 kindly donated by Barclays.
Staff at the Blue Bell Hotel joined in by donning wartime costume.
