Baby Jessica is Hillcrest's first for 2016

Proud Alnwick mother Rebecca Lambert has given birth to the first baby born at the town's Hillcrest Maternity Unit in 2016.

Little Jessica arrived at 8.35am on Wednesday, January 6, and the cute tot weighed 8lb 2oz.

Rebecca, from St James Estate, is delighted that her precious daughter was the first baby born at Hillcrest this year.

The 24-year-old said: “I got told that I might have to get induced at Cramlington in the morning, but I stuck to my guns and said ‘no, I am staying in Alnwick and I am going to have the first baby born there in 2016’.

“It is really nice that Jessica was the first baby born in Alnwick this year and I want to thank the staff at Hillcrest.”

Rebecca is also mum to four-year-old Benjamin, who was also born at the Alnwick unit.
