The family-owned Grey Bull Hotel in Haltwhistle has seen a more than 40 per cent increase in guest bookings after receiving business support from Arch’s Business Northumberland programme.

The Grey Bull, a four-star, cycle-friendly facility with six en-suite bedrooms, is owned and run by Gary and Kathryn Witheyman, who have more than 40 years of experience in the hospitality sector, having previously owned hotels in Dorset, Torquay and Tynemouth.

Both Gary and his daughter Jayne, who manages the B&B’s website, attended a variety of the fully-funded Business Northumberland workshops, finding the social-media, marketing and website courses the most useful.

Gary said: “We have been supported greatly by the Business Northumberland programme, especially from the social-media, marketing and web design workshops that we have attended.

“The Business Northumberland programme has been invaluable to us and we are extremely grateful. As a very small business, we would not normally have been able to afford this support otherwise.”
