Awards nod is a '˜proud moment'
An organisation founded by an Alnwick man has been shortlisted for the Charity/Community Initiative Award at the British LGBT Awards.
Inclusive Networks, which was set up by Thomas Anderson, is a platform to celebrate the inspiring work of charities, community groups, inclusive brands and organisations and unsung heroes.
Thomas said : “To be entering our second year and to have received this amazing recognition is a proud moment for myself and fantastic recognition for our small team of dedicated contributors.
“We’ve only just started on our journey and this recognition has given us an extra boost to continue developing our website and printed #ThisIsMe magazine, national events, reward and recognition initiatives and most importantly, to keep authentically celebrating the awesome work of inspiring people and inclusive organisations and brands all over the UK.”
He added : “My family has a long history in Alnwick and I spent my life growing up in Clayport Gardens. I started my career in the town as an Apprentice at Marishal Thompson & Co (now called Innovation Environmental) and have a lot to thank them for.
“Massive thanks to those who gave me the opportunities early on in my career that gave me the confidence and drive to develop myself and launch Inclusive Networks. If I can do it, anyone can.”
The winners of the awards will be announced at the awards ceremony on Friday, May 13, at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London.
In recent years Thomas has been shortlisted for a number of awards including Diversity Champion of the Year at the 2013 European Diversity Awards.
