Attempted theft of agricultural equipment in Northumberland

Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted theft of agricultural equipment in Northumberland.

An intruder was disturbed in a shed containing agricultural equipment in Bilton Barns Farm, Bilton, in Lesbury, at approximately 10.15pm yesterday.

The offender then ran off empty handed and a small white van-type vehicle was seen to leave the area at speed. The man seen in the barn is described as being of medium height and build and wearing an anorak.

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious, is asked to contact police.

Residents are urged to be vigilant, to make sure their premises are kept secure and to report any suspicious activity to police straightaway.
