An Alnwick-based artist is brushing up her digital skills with the help of a free training programme.
Art graduate Pam Vardy took up painting professionally in 2003, following her degree which inspired her to take up painting again and turn it into a business.
Now she is attracting new customers to her business after taking up free courses with iNorthumberland Business Support.
Pam signed up for iNorthumberland Business Support after realising the importance of getting to grips with optimising her website, digital marketing and using social media for her business.
The training programmes have helped to improve her knowledge of websites and search engine optimisation (SEO).
She found the digital marketing and social media masterclasses very useful and already her website – www.pamvardyart.co.uk – is attracting more visitors.
Pam, a versatile artist who paints watercolours, acrylics and oils, said: “I have found all of the online training courses really useful and the balance between the online training and in-person masterclasses has been just right for me, helping put into practice and bring to life some of the topics I have learned.
“I would highly recommend the training to other Northumberland-based businesses and look forward to attending more masterclasses myself.”
The online training portal includes nine courses – accessible from anywhere via an e-learning portal – on topics such as social media, SEO and cloud technologies.
Participating SMEs can also attend face-to-face masterclasses to further their training and learn from experts in the field.
Coun Dave Ledger, deputy leader of Northumberland County Council and chairman of Arch, The Northumberland Development Company, said: “It’s great to hear that even well-established businesses like Pam’s are making the most of the training provided by iNorthumberland Business Support.
“We have had a lot of positive feedback and the courses have really helped businesses across Northumberland capitalise on the available superfast broadband.”
