The state-of-the-art Weavers Court Extra Care scheme offers 58 one and two-bedroomed apartments specially for the over-55s.

Housing association Isos has taken possession of the complex, after main contractor Galliford Try Partnerships North finished work.

Apartments are available to buy through shared ownership, or to rent from Isos. Applicants must be aged 55 or over and have a housing or recognised care need.

They offer the independence that comes with living in an Extra Care scheme, as well as the security of on-site support, 24 hours a day.

There is also a café operating daily from 8.30am to 2.30pm, and meeting rooms for residents to enjoy activities.

Executive director of development and property for Isos Housing, Michael Farr, said: “We’re very proud of Weavers Court; the standard of the building is first class, with a design that lets natural light flood in. All the residents can feel at home here – either enjoying their own apartments, or socialising in the new café.

“We’re grateful to Galliford Try for delivering a high quality job and to our architects, idpartnership, for such an outstanding design.”

Scheme manager David Curran said: “Weavers Court is developing every day. Some lovely residents have already moved in and the community is growing all the time.

“We really want the people of Alnwick to embrace this building and for it to become a key part of community life.”

David has recently been joined at Weavers Court by assistant manager, Liz Pratt, who, as the scheme’s activities co-ordinator, is passionate about helping older people remain active.

The show apartment is available to view on Saturday and Sunday, between 10.30am and 3.30pm.
