Phew! What a day it was on Saturday for the Percy family, the guests and the residents of Alnwick and beyond as high society flocked to north Northumberland.
The wedding of Lady Melissa, the youngest daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland, was a fantastic occasion, with cheering crowds out in force and the beam of the country’s media well and truly fixed on the town.
The Gazette editorial team, all out and about covering the day, were certainly among those who enjoyed the star-studded affair.
It was another day that hopefully worked as a great advert for both Alnwick and the surrounding area, coming as it does hot on the heels of a string of big days.
From the visit of the Queen and Lady Katie’s wedding in 2011 to the Olympic Torch relay with the overnight stop in Alnwick and Prince Charles’ visit last year, communities in north Northumberland have done themselves proud time after time.
We hope all our readers enjoyed the day as much as we did.
