The Highways England project team will be on hand at the events to answer questions.

Nanette Hoyle, A1 in Northumberland project manager, said: “Highways England is proposing to upgrade the A1 in Northumberland to dual carriageway standard between Morpeth and Felton and Alnwick and Ellingham, creating a continuous dual carriageway from Newcastle to Ellingham.

“In addition to this, we are also proposing several improvements north of Ellingham such as junction improvements and overtaking sections.

“A consultation period will run from November 14 to December 23 with a series of events in the local area.

“We hope that local people and businesses will participate in the consultation and share their views on the proposals. This will enable us to take into account the needs of local road users when developing the proposals.”

Events take place at the Northumberland Hall in Alnwick on Friday, November 18, from 12pm to 7pm, and Saturday, November 19, from 10am to 5pm.
