Having given away more than £100,000 over the years, another £6,000 was doled out this year in a ceremony hosted by Robert Famelton.

The latter was most grateful for its donation as it enables the club to travel overseas for events and tournaments.

For example, in March this year, Jason Davidson organised a trip to Brest, in France, to take part in the European Championships, which involved 10 countries.

The UK team came very close to winning the event, and would have done if there had been a full complement of wrestlers.

The team flew to Brittany from the Midlands, making the journey much easier, but, of course, this costs money.
