ROTARY HONOUR: Alnwick Rotarians and friends enjoyed a fine Christmas lunch at the White Swan Hotel.
After the meal they were wonderfully entertained by the sixth form choir from the Duchess’s Community High School, who truly brought the Christmas spirit to all who heard them.
The president James Bateman then presented engraved glasses to eight members as mementos of between 27 and 50 years of continuous service.
Finally, two members were awarded Paul Harris Fellowships in recognition of their outstanding records in Rotary.
These awards, named after the founder of Rotary International, were presented to Bill Bell for his unceasing dedication to the support of local charities, and to Joy Palmer-Cooper in recognition of her efforts to rebuild and refurbish schools swept away by the tsunami in Sri Lanka.
If you are interested in being part of this worldwide organisation, you will be welcomed at the White Swan Hotel where the Rotary Club meets every Thursday lunchtime, or call the secretary on 01665 604375.
