The Alnwick and District MS Society get together was saved with some quick thinking by one of our members.

We had all turned up at our usual venue, armed with food and two guest speakers, only to find the gates shut and padlocked.

As more cars started arriving we wracked our brains to find an alternative. Joan Mclelland suggested we go to her new home at Weavers’ Court and use the restaurant area.

In a matter of minutes, a convoy set off and we arrived with our fingers crossed, hoping to be allowed in. There was no need to be worried, the welcome couldn’t have been more friendly and hospitable.

Miranda Sinyard, chairman of Alnwick and District MS Society, said: “We had a great meeting. Everyone enjoyed the opportunity to check out the newly opened Weavers’ Court and the staff on duty couldn’t have been more helpful.”

In fact, the venue was so popular that it has become our new location for future events, and we are holding a monthly coffee morning for anyone affected by MS at Weavers Court on the first Thursday of the month, starting on September 1.

We will also have a cake stall at its summer fete on Friday, August 26, between 11am and 2pm.
