A PLAN to put some form of parking in Alnwick Market Place is to be discussed by county councillors next week.
A working group was set up to try to resolve the current situation which sees vehicles parking as a free-for-all in the area.
And it found that some form of limited, controlled parking was the preferred option to ensure safety while also making sure that markets and festivals continue unimpeded.
It would mean marked bays in the Market Place with enforcement by officers.
County council officers have been asked to come up with a detailed proposal for the plans and a report will be given to Monday night’s north area committee meeting.
