Alnwick is in need of another school-crossing patrol officer to help children cross the road safely in the town.

Northumberland County Council has agreed that a lollipop man or woman is needed for Wagonway Road/Victoria Terrace from the Lindisfarne Sports Centre across to Augur Terrace.

However, no one has come forward to take on the role yet. Anyone interested can contact Coun Heather Cairns (on 01665 589353).

In March last year, John Tate and Rosalee Cook-Jury were appointed to help children cross the roads by St Paul’s First and Middle Schools, on South Road, and Lindisfarne Middle School.

It was the first time in around six years that officers had been in the positions and followed a long search for applicants to fill the posts.
