Alnwick is in the running to be named as the UK’s favourite film and TV location – but it needs the public’s support.

Hotel Info is holding the Star Locations Competition 2016, to find the town or city in the UK with the most ‘star’ quality.

The nominees include towns and cities where a movie or TV show was filmed and with a population of between 2,000 and 60,000.

Alnwick is the only destination in Northumberland to make the 22-strong shortlist and its credits include Harry Potter, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and Downton Abbey, among others.

Locations in the mix include Fort William, Windsor, Sevenoaks and Whitby. Voting runs until Tuesday and voters have the chance to win one of five £100 prizes. To place your vote, visit
