Homes and businesses in Alnwick have been struck by power cuts for a second consecutive evening.
The power was out for more than two-and-a-half hours yesterday from around 5.20pm in the Victoria Road area of the town.
Work had been ongoing throughout the day to upgrade the system, but the Gazette understands that a problem with a transformer has meant a second evening without electricity.
Power was lost at the same time tonight and Northern Powergrid has warned residents that it could be off until 10pm.
A spokesman has said 208 properties have been affected and the company is hoping to restore electricity by 10pm using a generator.
“Our customer support van is en route to the area to provide refreshments and support to those affected by the power cut,” he said.
One resident who has a young child has been told that urgent repairs were being carried out.
