The June meeting of the Alnwick branch of the Family History Society was an informal evening to share an item, photograph or even a memory of family history.

The range of objects brought along were varied, from an extensive family tree to a treasured family bible, and a personal war diary to certificates awarded to a nurse in the 1920s.

There was also an opportunity to see beautiful handmade items, a wedding dress and a religious embroidery made by a young girl.

The evening was also a chance for members to discuss and share progress with their family research.

The July meeting of the branch was due to be held this week at St James’ Centre. The topic was The Parish Chest, by Wendy Stafford.
