Alnwick was a hive of activity yesterday as organisers of the annual food festival were getting ready for the weekend’s local culinary showcase.
Food producers from all over Northumberland, the North East and a few guests from further afield started to descend upon the market town for the 9th Alnwick Food Festival in the evening.
Some 62 stalls were being erected and a demonstration kitchen built in the Northumberland Hall ready for celebrity chef Jean-Christophe Novelli and a host of local chefs to display their skills.
Alnwick Food Festival starts today from 10am, with the market closing at 4pm but street food available until 11pm. Tomorrow traders will be back from 10am until 4pm. There is a petting farm, pony-and-trap rides, face-painting, gingerbread-man-decorating and pizza-making for young foodies.
