Tasty treats, cookery demonstrations and family fun will be served up in September, with the return of the much-loved Alnwick Food Festival.
The popular culinary showcase did not take place last year, but organisers have announced that it is back on the menu this time round.
The event, which launched in 2005, will be held on Saturday, September 17, and Sunday, September 18, and it is expected that around 25,000 visitors will pour into the town.
The food festival is being co-ordinated by Local Living, under the direction of a new management committee.
The popular Alnwick Beer Festival, run by Alnwick and District Round Table, will be held over the course of the same weekend.
Festival manager Dawn Watts said: “We already have confirmed bookings from more than 50 traders, which will ensure a bustling and varied Market Place.
“We have some great family entertainment lined up for both days and are planning a full programme of chef demonstrations in the Northumberland Hall.
“Last month we hosted the Taste of the North weekend which proved an excellent curtain-raiser for September’s food festival.”
Over the years, the prestigious festival has established a strong reputation and a popular following, both locally and nationally. It has already built up a sizeable following on Facebook and Twitter.
In the build-up to the event, the committee is keen to add to its team of volunteers to hand out programmes, assist in the Northumberland Hall during the cookery demonstrations and generally help out.
If you can offer some time on either the Saturday or the Sunday, contact festival chairman Philip Angier by emailing email@example.com or call 07971 162623.
As part of the launch of this year’s Alnwick Food Festival, the Gazette has teamed up with the organisers to give readers the chance to win a meal voucher. A £20 coupon for Mivesi, in Alnwick Market Place, is up for grabs for one lucky winner.
