Alnwick and District Flower Club, April meeting

LOVE OF FLOWERS: A warm welcome was given to all members and guests at the April meeting of Alnwick and District Flower Club by the chairman.

After a few announcements, she extended her welcome to our demonstrator for the evening, Amelia Forrester, with her theme My Love of Flowers.

Amelia regaled us with her highs and lows of moving and building houses. With her love of both plants and flowers, getting a garden in order was a top priority each time she moved.

Her use of some very colourful flowers, containers and humour made it a very entertaining evening. As always, the floral arrangements were raffled off at the end of the evening.

The chairman announced a forthcoming National Flower Arranging Day on Friday, May 6. Arrangements will be placed in prominent areas around Alnwick, i.e. Barter Books, the library, Tourist Information Centre, etc. This day is to promote public awareness of NAFAS (National Association of Flower Arrangement Society) around the whole of the UK, individual members will make the arrangements for this special day.

Alnwick and District Flower Club meets on the first Tuesday of most months in The Costello Centre, Bailiffgate, starting at 7pm. For more details ring 01665 602736.
