The seaside village of Alnmouth has been named as one of the best places to live in the UK.
The north Northumberland village appears in the The Sunday Times Best Places to Live in Britain series.
The annual supplements combine data and statistics such as crime rates, house prices and school performance,
It says of Alnmouth: ‘Why is it so great? The most desirable place to live in Northumberland and very seaside chic. Its windswept beach, in an area of outstanding natural beauty, is made for brisk walks, horse riding and seal spotting.
‘Who lives here? Lots of professional types, teachers, doctors, artists and photographers, plus the crime writer Val McDermid.
‘House prices. They average about £400,000, but there are not many houses available — no further land can be developed because it’s a conservation area.’
