Runners-up spot looks a realistic proposition for Alnmouth after their blistering first half showing brought second placed Grainger Park’s charge to a halt.

United were off to a perfect start within the first minute when man of the match Brett Rogerson connected with Danny Lillico’s free kick to spectacularly hit a turning half volley from the edge of the area into the top corner.

Judd Donohoe doubled the lead on twenty minutes with the aid of a post following Peter Murray’s feed.

Within five minutes Rogerson was as it again, receiving from Liam Jefferson in the area, he outfought the first defender before twisting & turning around another couple to drive into the bottom corner past the ‘keeper.

Ryan Taylor capped off the dominant home first half with the fourth, finding the net from six yards following Jefferson’s clever play down the left in outmanoeuvring three opponents and centring. The Seasiders may have added more after the break but conceded in the dying stages when a trip in the box resulted in Robert Jefferson converting a penalty.

Alnmouth: Ashurst, Lillico, Frost, Wright (Dawson), Brown, Jefferson, Quinn, Rogerson (Evans), Murray, Taylor (Donohoe), Donohoe.
