The Pride of Aln, pictured being unloaded at Alnmouth boathouse by some of the members of the group that built her, has her official maiden voyage on Sunday at 10am when the Duchess of Northumberland will join the crew.

The Grade II-listed boathouse will now be the centre of operations of Alnmouth Community Rowing Association, where groups and individuals can try out the boat in organised sessions.

Pete Bulloch, from Alnmouth Community Rowing Association, said: “This is the first opportunity to see this beautiful hand-built craft in action on the water and for anyone interested to come along and sign up to try it out.

“No previous experience is needed and we want anyone interested in forming a crew from their community group to come forward.

“These can be sports clubs, schools, businesses or just groups of friends. All are welcome.”
