Laura Weightman said that she could not find the words to describe the feeling of winning a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games.
But there are so many words that can be found to describe her. Inspirational and a role model are just a few.
This girl from Northumberland is a shining star; someone who epitomises determination, fight and character. Someone who shows that great things can be achieved through hard work.
This is a girl who has tasted such success this year on the back of such disappointment in 2013. And it is richly deserved.
The torrent of messages which flooded onto Facebook and Twitter in the wake of her silver-medal exploits shows exactly that.
Northumberland is known for many things. Its beaches, its hills and its castles. Laura, like other sports stars such as golfer Garrick Porteous and footballer Lucy Bronze , is putting the county on the map. We are proud she is one of ours.
And this could be just the beginning. A medal at the European Championships in August would propel her to even greater levels.
