Having fun with science and working towards a Green Tree School Award – it’s been an exciting time at Alnwick’s St Michael’s C of E Primary School.

The students have been treated to STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths)-related learning opportunities.

Experiences included a visit to Arcinova, in Alnwick, and the Professor Brainstorm Science Magic Show.

The youngest children have built a pond to release their frogs, while pupils attended a Harry Potter potions class at the town’s Duchess’s Community High School.

Meanwhile, the Year 1s have been working towards the Green Tree School Award.

Pupils took photos from different perspectives around the school grounds, including a tricky close-up of an insect.

The students also visited Hulne Park to count minibeasts, sketch flowers and trees and did bark rubbings.

The pupils also read The Lorax, by Dr Seuss, and designed their own characters to be woodland ambassadors and gave them a name.
