An appeal from Northumbria Police

At around 8.27am, Northumbria Police received a report of a one-vehicle collision involving a van on the A1 at Hebron.

Officers attended where it appeared a white Vauxhall Astra van had collided with a fence before coming to rest in a farmer’s field nearby. The occupants of the vehicle had left the scene.

Inquiries are at an early stage, however it is now thought that the collision occurred at about 2am today with two people in the van.

It is believed that one of the occupants, an injured man currently receiving treatment in hospital for non-life-threatening injures, walked to a nearby garage in the Fairmoor area of Morpeth where he was given a lift to the Ashington area.

Any witnesses, particularly the motorist who is understood to have given the injured man a lift, or anyone with dash-cam footage are asked to contact police by calling 101 quoting log 329 05/08/18.
