A1 CRASH UPDATE: Ambulance crashes off the A1 in Northumberland

An ambulance left the A1 and turned onto its side after being involved in a crash near Haggerston Castle, south of Berwick, this morning.

The crash between the ambulance and a car happened at around 8.20am, between the A1167 and the A698 junctions.

Two crew members from the ambulance were taken to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington. and a person from the car was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.

The road was reopened once the vehicles had been recovered at about 11.30am.
