A group of over 50s enjoyed a paddle boarding beginners’ session, as part of an initiative designed to give people the chance to try something new.
The free session, led by Jon Nolan of Amble-based Northside Surf, took place at Druridge Bay on Monday, June 25, and involved 12 participants.
They were able to try the individual paddle boards, as well as the group paddle board.
Refreshments were provided by Anna Hunter, of Flip N Fast.
The majority of people found out about the event through Facebook and even Vera star Brenda Blethyn retweeted a tweet about the event saying ‘This looks fun’, and after a fellow tweeter encouraged her to participate, she tweeted: ‘Haaaa, would if I could. Filming.’
The session was part of First Time for Everything, a programme designed by the Royal Voluntary Service and Prudential to give older people in Northumberland, and across the UK, the chance to try something new for free in their local community.
