The Mark Freemasons of Northumberland’s charity raised £1,250 for the Multiple System Atrophy Trust at its annual summer barbecue event in Newcastle.

The Northumberland Mark Benevolent Fund (NMBF) holds around four fund-raising events a year raising thousands of pounds for charities either based or with a presence in Northumberland.

Karen Walker, the Trust’s interim chief executive, was present at the event as well as someone living with the rare condition multiple system atrophy (MSA), a neurodegenerative disease leading to premature death.

Colin Narey, NMBF treasurer and charity steward for the Northumberland province, said: “We are delighted to be able to help the Trust who rely entirely on voluntary donations to continue their working of supporting people living with MSA.”
