A challenge to read this summer

A summer reading challenge has been launched across the county.

The challenge, organised by Nothumberland County Council, encourages youngsters to read throughout the summer holidays, rewarding those who complete it with a certificate, medal and entry into a prize draw to win a mini iPad.

This year’s theme, Mythical Maze, is designed to thrill and stimulate the imagination.

A starter pack will help children to keep track of their reading throughout the holidays as well as collecting incentives and rewards along the way.

To join in, children can sign up at their local library for free. They will be encouraged to read six or more books and at the end of the summer they will be presented with a certificate and medal at a special ceremony.
