A ‘substantial reward’ is being offered in a bid to catch thieves who broke into a Wooler depot twice in a weekend, stealing £1,000 of fuel.
Around 800 litres were stolen from two trucks during the raids, which occurred at the Berwick Road Industrial Estate.
Thieves first struck sometime between Friday evening and Sunday afternoon, then returned overnight Sunday to sIphon the remaining fuel from the vehicles. It is unknown how entry was gained to the secure compound.
Richard Aynsley, owner of the trucks, said: “I’m extremely angry. It is difficult enough to try to profit without £1,000 being stolen.
“It is the fourth time in the last year to a year-and-a-half that the yard has been broken into and I am sick and tired of it. I want to assist the police by offering a substantial reward for information leading to the arrest of the culprits.”
Anyone with information should call police on 101.
