On a cold January night, president Serena Coulter welcomed members and a guest.
A clipboard was circulated so members could record their votes for the 2018 Resolutions.
The speaker was Nick Lividas, a physiotherapist in the Newcastle area, whose presentation was titled Suffering Aches And Pains?
He talked about the value of exercise in maintaining a healthy physical and mental lifestyle, gave out elastic exercise bands and instructed us in simple exercises. This was an interesting evening and Nick made it fun.
Nick judged the competition for A New Year Resolution. Pat Wood won with Meet Everyone With A Smile, You Are Not Properly Dressed Without One. Helen Wilson was second and Christine MacDonald third.
The birthday flowers were awarded to Joyce Marley.
The next meeting, on February 6, is a members’ evening when we will be discussing the Poppy Project. We will also pay homage to the women’s suffrage movement as we celebrate 100 years since women gained the vote.
