6. Rothbury Riverside
Everyone loves the Stepping Stones crossing the River Coquet in Rothbury. They are well used and popular with walkers going down to Thrum Mill. There is a 2.5mile circular walk via Whitton to Thrum Mill

Exit the Rothbury Cowhaugh car park, turn right, walk up the road in the opposite direction of the road bridge. When you reach the junction near the top of the hill there is the 14th centurt Whitton Pele. Turn left, signposted Whitton, and take in views to Cragside, the Coquet Valley and Simonside.
