Hide AdTo keep everyone safe, entry will be strictly by pre-booking via the castle website. It means the castle grounds will be open over Easter in a limited way with take-away only refreshments available for visitors.
Outdoor activities will return from April 12 with falconry, broomstick training and much more.
From step two in the roadmap the castle’s outdoor activities and entertainment will recommence including archery and the world-famous Broomstick Training. Outdoor seating at cafes will again be open with table service on April 12.
If the national plan is unchanged, it is expected that the castle itself and all indoor facilities will be re-open from May 17.

Hide AdAndrew Robson, agent at Northumberland Estates, said: “We are delighted to be able to re-open the grounds and welcome local people from March 29.
"Our team is really looking forward to bringing back all of the activities that make this place so special. The activities can commence from stage two which we hope isn’t too far away. We hope it is going to be a great summer as we all celebrate being in open spaces again.”
Safety is a top priority for the whole of 2021 and so visitor numbers will be capped each day throughout the year to avoid crowding.
Anyone wishing to visit is advised to book online in advance to guarantee entry and avoid disappointment on the day. Tickets for the first stage of opening are priced at £5 per adult and free for children aged 16 and under. Social distancing rules by visitors and staff alike will be strictly supervised as advised by the Government until informed otherwise.
