5. Howick

7. Hauxley
Hauxley Wildllife Discovery Centre, near Low Hauxley Village, is open six days a week with no entry fee - though donations are encouraged. 8. Budle Bay
Social distancing shouldn't be a problem at this one-mile-wide bay. It's part of the Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve, and a popular spot with birdwatchers. The best walks here are to be had at low tide, but it's good for a stroll at any time. Photo: Jane Coltman
