North Sunderland WI, Meeting

St Aidan's Dunes near Seahouses.
St Aidan's Dunes near Seahouses.

President Judith Stephenson opened the meeting, welcomed 19 members, plus a new member, and introduced Laurie Gray and Jane Draper.

These two young ladies entertained us by producing brushes, glitter and liquid glue, with an array of teacups and saucers. We then proceeded to decorate the inside of the teacups, producing gales of laughter.

The finished products looked good, although the glitter – various colours, seemed to end up on us, on the table, on the floor, and everywhere else. Some teacups looked to be very skilfully finished.

The vote of thanks was given by Mrs Stephenson for what had proved to be a very entertaining activity.

The competition, Craft, was won by Mrs Turner, Mrs Edmison and Mrs Wood.

After refreshments we settled down to the business meeting. The minutes were read and approved. Correspondence was read out. The treasurer gave us her report.

An acknowledgement had been received from Mrs P Minto, who had received a card and flowers as she had been in hospital. We had given a donation to the North Sunderland Garden Association. An invitation had been received from Belford to attend a meeting, and forms were received from Denman College in respect of bursaries.
