Members of Wooler U3A recently visited The Kelpies and Falkirk Wheel. Kelpies were maligned spirits, usually taking the shape of animals, particularly horses.
The outing began with a visit to the 300 tonne, 30m horse head sculptures, followed by a ride on the 35m Falkirk Wheel, an hydraulic lift taking the place of 11 locks linking the Forth and Clyde and Union Canals.
