"2021 is a special year as Alnwick in Bloom are celebrating their 40th anniversary so the committee will be thrilled if anyone grows ruby sunflowers as well.”

Judging the sunflowers will take place in late August/early September and the winner will receive a prize of £50 voucher as well as prizes of vouchers for second and third places. There will also be five runners up prizes of £5 vouchers.

Sunflower seeds can be bought from garden centres and most supermarkets.
