Unique restaurant and dining experience to open in Northumberland with special event involving England cricket star
A new Mongolian grill restaurant will open to the public this week - and it could welcome a very special guest.
Twelve 06 is Newbiggin-by-the-Sea’s newest restaurant, bringing the taste of Mongolia to the seaside town.

Operated by Wayne Rigg, Twelve 06 will bring a completely unique dining experience to Northumberland when it opens to the general public on Saturday.
This week, though, will see a soft launch of the restaurant with music and some very special guests to come on Wednesday night.
Among those special guests invited to the opening of Twelve 06 is England cricket star and one of Ashington’s top sporting exports, Mark Wood.
Father Anthony of St Bartholomew’s Church in the town has also been invited to attend the opening which will also see music from local musicians.
All of this promises a night to remember at Twelve 06, but just what can customers expect from the restaurant when it opens and, crucially, what is Mongolian food?
“This is something different,” owner Wayne Rigg said. “The nearest place, I think, for a Mongolian grill is, like, London and Ireland.
“So it's a Mongolian grill and people have been asking what that is. Basically what it is, it's self-service.
“So you've got, like, different types of noodles, different types of vegetables, spices, herbs, different types of proteins, fish, and you put it into a bowl and you watch it be cooked by our chefs on the big, massive Mongolian grill.
“And it's a bit of an interactive, like, dining experience. It's unique to the area.
“There's nothing like this - you have to go down to London. Ireland is the place that I've seen this and where I got inspiration from.”
Rigg also revealed that the opening of Twelve 06 will come as a big relief to everyone who has put in time and effort to get the restaurant from a shell of a building to what it is today.
The restaurant had received 23 objections to a licensing application for the premises on the grounds of prevention of public nuisance.
A licensing hearing then took place in May before the licence was granted in full by Northumberland County Council.
