The 40 best pubs for a pint in Northumberland as recommended by the Good Beer Guide

The 40 best pubs for a pint in Northumberland are listed in the newly-published 50th edition of the Good Beer Guide.

The guide, published annually by CAMRA, helps beer lovers take a barometer of the local beer scene, details the best pubs and keeps track of brewery numbers.

One of the pubs listed is The Ship Inn in Low Newton, which also includes a in house brewery producing quality cask beer for its regulars and tourists alike.

Oliver Eltringham, brewer at The Ship Inn, said: “I would like to say a huge thanks from all of us at The Ship Inn Pub and Brewery for including us in the latest edition of The Good Beer Guide. It is a great honour and appreciated by the entire team in these trying times. Thanks once again and we look forward to seeing you all in the near future.”

CAMRA national chairman Nik Antona says: “The Good Beer Guide has always had an important role in acting as a barometer of the beer and pub industry.

"We believe information gleaned from the guide is absolutely vital in the drive to save our pubs from closure and campaign for policies that better support pubs, local brewers and their customers.

“Whilst we experienced a boom in the brewing industry over recent years, it’s clear that the effects of Covid-19 and subsequent cost of living and cost of goods crisis has been keenly felt.

"I’d encourage everyone to use this guide to seek out the very best examples of pub excellence and support these locals by visiting them.”
