Morpeth restaurant The Townhouse announces closure as owner hints towards new plans
A popular Morpeth restaurant has announced its permanent closure.
The Townhouse, located in the heart of Morpeth on Bridge Street, has revealed that it will close its doors for good next month.

In a shock post to Facebook, the team revealed that there will be a few ‘lasts’ over the next few weeks – with its last tasting menu on March 4, its last Mother’s Day on March 15 and most importantly, its last day of service on March 29.
Customers flooded to the comments to voice their disappointment. One wrote: “Very sad to read this, our favourite restaurant in the region.”
"Gutted! You are our 'go to' for visitors when they come to stay with us in Cramlington,” another added.
However Florin Stan, who took over The Townhouse in summer 2024, has hinted that he will be taking on a new premises in the town which can’t yet be named.
The news comes after an unplanned closure over the festive period after an electrical issue which saw the restaurant have to cancel lunches on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Florin told the Northumberland Gazette back in January: “It was heart-breaking to have the electrical issue happen. I took the disappointment personally because this would have been the first year that we would have provided Christmas meals at The Townhouse.
“However, everybody I spoke with when calling them to explain the cancellation was understanding. They have got to know me over the last few years and they knew I was being genuine.
“This has made me even more determined to try to make this restaurant a success in the long-term.”
