The Hairy Bikers rustle up a shellfish platter on visit to Northumberland town for new TV series

Chefs Dave Myers and Si King did a spot of fishing at the harbour on Tuesday, October 6,- before heading to The Fish Shack restaurant to rustle up a shellfish platter.

Martin Charlton, owner of The Fish Shack, said: “They were here as part of their new series and did a bit of filming along the pier and then spoke to one of the local shellfish fishermen.

"They then came to The Fish Shack to produce a shellfish and fish platter using local ingredients.

"Si is one of our customers anyway so we know him quite well.

"We had a chat about Amble, did some filming, and then the whole crew had their lunch too.

"It’s been a really good day."

He hopes it will also provide a timely boost given the difficulties that the hospitality industry is going through at the moment.

"A lot of the filming was done in and around The Fish Shack so it should be good publicity for us,” he said.

"The weather was good too so it should look lovely when it’s shown on TV.”

Local photographer Ivor Rackham spotted the pair at the pier while he was running a photography class.

He said: "I’m not sure if they caught anything but they were happy to pose for a picture.”

It was the second time in a week that film crews have descended on Amble, with filming for ITV drama Vera starring Brenda Blethyn also taking place around the harbour.
