Kitty Oates, a 10-year-old pupil at Whittingham C of E Primary School, was so moved by NHS workers’ dedication during the current crisis she asked her mum, Coco, if she could raise money in some way

Coco, on her fundraising page, admitted: “Initially I thought, oh crikey, but actually I think it it a brilliant idea and I was very touched that she had thought about it herself and made a decision to do her bit to help out.

“Kitty loves her dancing and it is something she has continued to do, most days, even in lockdown either via an online dance class with Miss Moseley or just by herself in our sitting room where she has pushed all the furniture to the side of the room to make maximum space.

“At a time when everything is very tough for families affected by the coronavirus and very hard for the NHS staff fighting this battle, please, if you can, sponsor Kitty to raise funds for NHS Charities Together it would mean a huge amount.”

She completed the danceathon on Saturday, May 2, starting at 9am and finishing at 8pm with an hour off in the middle to eat and rest.

Kitty also invited friends to join her via Zoom.

So far, over £3,200 has been raised.
