After a welcome from president Norma Ham to the April meeting, speakers Fiona Craster and her husband Michael were introduced by Joan Little.
The destination was Russia. A photographic tour of Moscow was accompanied by recollections of the visit.
The journey continued with a cruise via lochs, lakes, canals and river to St Petersburg, where there was more splendour and exciting events, which were to make this a special wedding anniversary for Fiona and Michael.
Following questions, a vote of thanks was given by Joan Littler.
Tea and refreshments gave everyone a chance to catch up, before a business meeting.
County events were highlighted. An invitation to a quiz at Howick in June met with an instant response after the success of Embleton at the Shilbottle quiz. Details of the May meeting were confirmed and plans made for an outing and meal in June.
Competition winners for the letter ‘D’ were: 1 Mrs J Little; 2 Lady Craft; 3 Miss J Littler. Raffle winners were Marjorie Hewitson and Joyce Laidler.
Members attended the county spring council meeting at the RGS, where they had a talk on a dementia project at the Tyneside Cinema and were entertained by Neil Hurst.
There was also a visit to Bamburgh WI for a very interesting talk on Shelterboxes.
